Understand the removal risk
Removing a strongly attached enhancement by picking or scraping can damage the natural nail plate. The American Academy of Dermatology cautions against picking and forceful removal of gel polish. Some gel polishes may be designed for acetone soaking, but different enhancement systems require product-specific removal methods. Never assume that every hard-gel or builder system can be soaked off the same way.

Review the product label and removal directions. Avoid unnecessarily prolonged contact of remover with the surrounding skin, and protect the work area against spills as instructed. If removal cannot be accomplished safely under the documented procedure, stop rather than adding a stronger unfamiliar solvent or forceful scraping.
