A Safety Data Sheet explains hazards and precautions for a specific chemical product in a workplace. Match the manufacturer and exact product name before relying on it. Similar bottle designs and names do not prove that products have the same formulation. The label identifies the product and supplies use warnings; the SDS adds structured information about hazards and workplace controls.
An SDS follows a standardized 16-section format. Section 2 describes hazard identification; Section 4 describes first-aid measures; Section 7 discusses handling and storage; Section 8 covers exposure controls and personal protection. Section 6 addresses accidental releases. Read the actual sections rather than assuming that every product requires the same gloves or ventilation.
If a splash reaches the eye, stop exposure and act promptly according to the product's first-aid instructions; seek urgent medical assistance when appropriate. Do not delay immediate care solely to search for paperwork. The employer should maintain an accessible hazard communication process. Never improvise chemical mixtures or rely on another product's SDS.

Two bottles share a brand but have different product codes. A worker finds one SDS online. Before selecting gloves, the worker checks that the SDS matches the bottle and consults its exposure-control guidance and glove manufacturer's chemical-resistance specifications.
