Core lesson

ENGLISH · MAIN LESSON

Before reusing an eligible implement, remove visible debris and clean it as directed. Cleaning and disinfection are different stages: soil may interfere with a disinfectant, and wiping something until it looks clean does not establish the required antimicrobial treatment. Read the disinfectant label for the intended use, concentration, contact time and any necessary rinsing. Follow applicable state board sanitation rules and the tool manufacturer’s instructions. Never assume one generic sequence applies to every implement.

Salon scenario

ENGLISH · MAIN LESSON

A reusable implement still has visible residue after a quick wipe. The next step is to complete cleaning, not to place it in clean storage or extend disinfectant soaking to compensate for debris. Keep used implements separate from processed ones. An item marked single-use should not be handed to a second client simply because it looks intact.
