Recognize routes of exposure
Nail products can expose workers through inhaled vapors or dust, through the skin and eyes, and through accidental ingestion. The risk depends on the product ingredients, quantity, ventilation, contact time, and work method. An odor is a reason to investigate, not a reliable measurement of exposure. Identify the exact product and read its safety information before changing the process.
Sản phẩm nail có thể gây phơi nhiễm qua hơi hoặc bụi hít vào, qua da và mắt, hoặc nuốt phải ngoài ý muốn. Mức nguy cơ tùy thành phần, lượng sử dụng, thông gió, thời gian tiếp xúc và thao tác. Mùi là dấu hiệu cần kiểm tra, không phải phép đo mức phơi nhiễm. Phải nhận diện đúng sản phẩm và xem thông tin an toàn trước khi thay đổi quy trình.
A realistic salon decision
A technician begins using an unfamiliar adhesive at a table with weak ventilation. Instead of deciding by its smell, the salon identifies the formulation, consults the label and matching Safety Data Sheet (SDS), checks exposure controls and makes a decision before continuing. An air freshener does not remove the underlying hazard.
Thợ sử dụng keo mới tại bàn thông gió kém. Thay vì phán đoán theo mùi, tiệm xác minh công thức, xem nhãn và phiếu SDS đúng sản phẩm, kiểm tra biện pháp kiểm soát rồi mới quyết định tiếp tục. Chất tạo mùi thơm không loại bỏ nguy cơ.
Check your understanding
Question: Can the absence of a strong smell prove a chemical is safe? Answer: No. Use product-specific information and exposure controls. Question: Does a fan moving room air necessarily remove vapors? Answer: No. The exhaust design and contaminant type matter.
